You can power attack for a totally random number every turn and the consequences for guessing wrong about what's mathematically correct to do are a small percent of your average DPR. Fighters (at least in my experience!) have very little play complexity, and most individual decisions are relatively inconsequential. Build complexity is almost a complete non-factor compared to play complexity when it comes to what's easiest for a new player. Making a character is something that a new player can be helped through offline without slowing down the game, and it's something that's basically required regardless of class just because making a character is hard to do right (just in terms of "making sure all the numbers add up right," not in terms of "optimal build") if you've never played before. Yeah, I'm talking pretty much purely about playing a character. However, if you're not finding the fighter to be a class that fills the role of "relatively accessible class for new players to play and feel comfortable and effective with their decisions," then I would certainly replace them with the warblade in a heartbeat.ĮDIT: That formulation was needlessly grouchy. If you know what you're doing, the sailboat is way better, and if you really know what you're doing, then the sailboat completely blows the rowboat out of the water, but if you're tossing someone who has maybe vaguely heard about lakes before but doesn't have any real experience into a boat, they're going to manage better in the rowboat. When I say that a fighter is easier to play than a spellcaster, I mean that specifically in the sense that a rowboat is easier to move around in than a sailboat. Making random decisions as a spellcaster class - which is much easier to get stuck doing - has far swingier consequences. ![]() Click to expand.Yeah, I'm talking pretty much purely about playing a character.
